Frequently Asked Questions

Grievances and Appeals:

How long will it take before I know if the Court will hear my grievance or Appeal?
It may take up to two weeks for the Court to be able to meet and make a decision as to whether they will hear the case or not. Please understand that the Court is comprised of students that are as busy as you, and want to make sure that they give the appropriate amount of time in reviewing your grievance.

Parking Appeals:

Can I submit more than one appeal if I have more than one ticket?
Yes. An appeal may be filed for each ticket that has been issued, but please note that there must be one appeal per ticket.

Can I park on the grass?
No. Under the parking and transportation guidelines it says that there may be no parking on the University’s campus that isn’t outlined for vehicle parking.

Does the Court have the jurisdiction to remove the fine from my student account?
Yes. The Court works with the Parking and Transportation department and can remove or reduce the ticketed fine.

Am I responsible for my family member’s vehicles that come onto campus?
Yes. As outlined in the Parking and Transportation guidelines students are responsible for all immediate family’s vehicles brought onto campus and are subject to fines for offenses rendered.

Do visitors have to have a parking pass?
We ask that all visitors using the University’s lot obtain a temporary parking pass for that day from the Parking and transportation office.

I got a ticket the day I purchased a parking pass, can I appeal it?
Yes. The Student Court and Parking and Transportation Department have agreed that students receiving tickets on the days that they purchase a parking pass will be waived, if a proper appeal is submitted with proof of purchase of the parking pass.

If I’m taking an online course and come up to the University to turn something in do I need a parking pass?
Yes. Students may obtain temporary parking passes from the Parking and Transportation office.
